Will GTA 6 have 60 FPS on PS5 Pro? Probably not as a native, locked mode. Rockstar hasn’t promised one, and the hardware points the other way. The PS5 Pro will most likely give you a sharper, better-lit picture at 30 FPS. A 60 FPS performance option isn’t impossible, but it isn’t confirmed either.
The game is now dated for November 19, 2026 on PS5, PS5 Pro, Xbox Series X and Series S. There’s no announced PC version. Our GTA 6 release date and price breakdown covers the launch timeline and pre-load details. Everything below is analysis based on Rockstar’s official trailers and updates and independent technical reporting.

ToggleGTA 6 Console Performance: Why 30 FPS Is the Baseline

Rockstar’s open-world games have always been CPU-hungry, and GTA 6 pushes harder than any of them. GTA IV, GTA V, both Red Dead games and L.A. Noire all shipped on console at 30 FPS. The second trailer ran on a base PS5, and Digital Foundry’s technical analysis measured roughly 1440p at 30 FPS.
The bottleneck is the processor, not the graphics chip. A 60 FPS target gives the CPU about 16.6 milliseconds per frame, half of what a 30 FPS target allows. Within that window it has to handle:
- Crowd and NPC simulation: dense pedestrian populations with their own routines
- Physics: vehicle damage, destructible props and water simulation
- World streaming: keeping a huge, detailed map loaded as you move
- Traffic and reactive behavior: cars and people responding to what you do
The more systems Rockstar layers on top of these, the harder the CPU works. We go through that in detail in our piece on GTA 6’s AI and NPC systems.
Will GTA 6 Have 60 FPS on PS5 Pro? What the Hardware Tells Us

The PS5 Pro has a much stronger GPU and uses PSSR, Sony’s machine-learning upscaler, which you can read about on the PlayStation Blog. It has better ray-tracing hardware too. The CPU is the problem. It’s the same Zen 2 architecture as the base console, with a clock bump of roughly 7 to 10 percent depending on the mode.
Extra GPU power can’t fix a CPU-bound frame, which is why the Pro’s headroom is more likely to go on cleaner image quality, ray-traced reflections and a higher internal resolution. That’s also why Rockstar’s timeline for any 60 FPS mode remains an open question. Studio leadership has described it as a technical unknown, and independent analysis expects 30 FPS as the realistic result.
Is PS5 Pro Worth It for GTA 6?

If you’re asking whether the PS5 Pro is worth it for GTA 6 purely for frame rate, don’t buy one on that hope. A $700 console is a bad bet on an unannounced feature.
It makes sense if:
- You already planned to upgrade and care about image quality, since PSSR and better reflections should make the game look noticeably cleaner on a good 4K TV.
- You play a lot of other demanding PS5 games that already benefit from the Pro.
Skip it if:
- Your main goal is 60 FPS. Wait for confirmed performance modes, or for the PC version.
- You’re happy with the base PS5. The game is built around it first and will look great.
Rockstar’s PC ports have historically landed well after the console launch, so waiting for PC means waiting a long time.
Is GTA 6 Cross Platform?
Rockstar hasn’t announced cross-play. So is GTA 6 cross platform at launch? On console, almost certainly not in the way people mean it, and PC doesn’t exist yet to compare.
Rockstar’s track record is consistent. GTA Online and Red Dead Online have always kept separate player pools for PlayStation, Xbox and PC, with no shared lobbies. Industry coverage, including IGN’s reporting, has framed cross-play as unannounced and treated Rockstar’s history as the best guide.
So will GTA 6 be cross platform later? It’s possible, particularly once a PC version arrives. A few things work against it:
- Anti-cheat: mixing PC players into console lobbies is a risk for any Online mode.
- Storefronts and accounts: Rockstar ties progress to platform accounts.
- Business model: separate economies simplify microtransactions.
The realistic expectation is that GTA 6 cross platform play won’t be there on day one. Treat any claim otherwise as a rumor until Rockstar says it.
GTA 6 Specs and Minimum Specs for PC

Rockstar hasn’t published GTA 6 specs, and there’s no announced PC release. The table below is an informed projection based on RAGE engine behavior and how Rockstar’s recent PC ports ran, not official requirements.
| Component | Projected Minimum | Projected Recommended |
|---|---|---|
| CPU | Intel Core i5-10400F / AMD Ryzen 5 3600 | Intel Core i7-12700 / AMD Ryzen 7 5800X |
| GPU | NVIDIA GTX 1660 Super / AMD RX 5600 XT | NVIDIA RTX 3070 / AMD RX 6800 |
| RAM | 16 GB | 32 GB |
| Storage | SSD mandatory (required) | NVMe SSD |
| OS | Windows 10 64-bit | Windows 11 64-bit |
On the CPU side, a six-core chip is the realistic floor. Four-core processors like the old i5-6600K won’t survive a simulation this dense, and as Tom’s Hardware explains regularly, core count and cache matter more than raw clock speed in this kind of workload.
The storage line matters most. An SSD is a hard requirement. The engine streams enormous amounts of asset data as you move through the map, and a mechanical hard drive would cause pop-in, stutter and long stalls. If you’re building or upgrading for the eventual PC release, prioritize the drive and a decent CPU before chasing a flagship GPU.
Expect 30 FPS as the default on console, with the PS5 Pro more likely to improve sharpness than frame rate. Don’t count on cross-play at launch, and treat all PC requirements as estimates until Rockstar publishes them.
